Many react as it's the end of the world. Well offcourse for some people that got a family, cars, big house and both of the parents will be without a job, life will become very hard for a while.
But my mind goes to people who've migrated several times. Changed countries changed proffessions. Lost their beloved, lost their kids. Lost a leg or an arm. Live in places where they don't know if they'll survive until tomorrow. Compared to such peoples problems our little financial problem is a fart in space. Even if you've got a family and you got to sell your house and get used to living in a 2 bedroom apartment with 3 kids, you still got your health and each other. Don't think you can't turn it around and rise above in the future because people are generally very good at that. The strife for your prosperity makes you evolve as a human and makes you tougher. It's when we're pushed into a corner we spawn the best ideas. Look at war for example. Nuclear power, the internet, humanitys largest discoveries sofar has been done in times of war or when we're challenged with a crisis. Look at how USA and Sovjet had the cold war and in a couple of years managed to send people to the moon. We haven't been there since and being there didn't give us that much but what I want to say is that humans and humanity can achieve wonderous acts when we're challenged.
So with that in mind I feel that being layed off from work is probably a good thing for me. It will make me either study, something I've really want to do for quite a while, or find a more fitting job. This is not the end of the world. It's the end of something old and the beginning of something new. Straighten up, brush your shoulders off, take a deep breath and charge head over heels into the future!
